The Group of Seven (G7) nations issued a statement on Wednesday expressing deep alarm over the significant number of reported killings and injuries resulting from the crackdown on protests in Iran. The group warned it is prepared to impose further sanctions if the violence does not cease.
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the High Representative of the European Union, declared their readiness to take action. “The members of the G7 remain prepared to impose additional restrictive measures if Iran continues to crack down on protests and dissent in violation of international human rights obligations,” the statement read.
