The Iraqi Meteorological Authority announced on Sunday details of the weather conditions expected across the country in the coming days, warning of continued rainfall and periods of atmospheric instability.
According to the authority, weather conditions will vary between northern, central, and southern regions, with fluctuations in rainfall intensity and temperatures through Thursday.

Monday Weather and Rainfall Outlook

The Meteorological Authority stated that Monday’s weather will be generally cloudy nationwide, with light to moderate rain expected. Thunderstorms may occur at times, particularly in the northern regions and the eastern parts of the south.

Fog and Visibility Conditions

Fog is expected to form in parts of the northern region during the early morning hours before gradually dissipating. Horizontal visibility will range between 6 and 8 kilometers, dropping to 2 to 4 kilometers during rainfall and fog.

Expected Maximum Temperatures on Monday

Temperatures are forecast to rise slightly in the central and northern regions, with a more noticeable increase in the south. Maximum temperatures are expected as follows:
Duhok: 11°C
Nineveh: 14°C
Erbil and Sulaymaniyah: 15°C
Kirkuk: 18°C
Diyala and Anbar: 21°C
Baghdad and Salah al-Din: 22°C
Karbala and Maysan: 23°C
Wasit: 24°C
Babil: 25°C
Najaf and Basra: 26°C
Diwaniyah: 27°C

Forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday

The authority noted that Tuesday’s weather will remain cloudy across Iraq, with a chance of light to moderate rain showers, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms over the mountainous areas of the north during the night.
On Wednesday, conditions are expected to be cloudy in the central region and partly cloudy in the south, while light to moderate rainfall continues in the north. Morning fog may also form in some northern areas.

Ongoing Atmospheric Instability

The Meteorological Authority confirmed that Iraq is affected by a state of atmospheric instability, bringing intermittent heavy rainfall, lightning, and thunder, particularly in central and northern areas. Temperatures are expected to record a slight decrease compared with previous days, especially in the north.

Thursday Weather and Wind Activity

According to the forecast, Thursday’s weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with light to moderate rain and occasional thunderstorms in the northern region and parts of central Iraq.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly in the central and northern regions, while remaining relatively stable in the south. Winds will be southeasterly at moderate speeds, occasionally strengthening to around 50 kilometers per hour, especially in eastern areas.

Conclusion:

The Iraqi Meteorological Authority expects unstable weather conditions to persist over the coming days, with recurring rainfall and a gradual rise in temperatures, alongside a gradual improvement in visibility across most regions.
