A potential US–Iran deal appears close to completion, but conflicting statements from Washington and Tehran have created uncertainty over the timing of its signing.

US President Donald Trump said the agreement is scheduled to be signed on Sunday, while Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that no signing would take place tomorrow, though it may happen in the coming days.

Trump: Signing Expected Sunday, Hormuz to Reopen

President Trump said it is scheduled for the agreement with Iran to be signed on Sunday.

He added that immediately after the signing, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened to all.

Trump also stated that, at an appropriate time and after tensions subside, the United States would move to secure what he referred to as “nuclear dust,” expressing hope that the process would proceed quickly and smoothly.

He emphasized that if the agreement does not materialize, Washington has alternative options, describing the deal as a safeguard preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Iran: No Signing Tomorrow

In contrast, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the memorandum of understanding will not be signed tomorrow.

However, he did not rule out the possibility of signing in the coming days.

Baghaei clarified that the Islamabad memorandum focuses on ending the war at this stage without addressing the nuclear file.

He described the document not as a final agreement but as a framework outlining key disputed points and confirming the end of hostilities, including in Lebanon.

According to Tehran, past experiences influenced the decision to prioritize ending the war before discussing broader issues.

Pakistan: Agreement Likely Within 24 Hours

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a peace agreement between Washington and Tehran is likely to be finalized within 24 hours.

He stated that both sides have agreed on a framework that would end months of conflict in the Middle East and have reached the final text of the agreement.

Sharif added that Pakistan is preparing for an electronic signing ceremony once the document is completed, followed by technical talks scheduled for next week.

Key Elements Under Discussion

Based on the statements from all parties, the emerging US–Iran deal framework appears to include:

– Ending hostilities across multiple fronts.

– Reopening maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.

– A phased approach to nuclear-related discussions.

– Pakistani mediation facilitating final steps.

Despite optimism, the exact timeline and scope of the agreement remain unclear due to differing public statements.

Conclusion:

The proposed US–Iran deal appears closer than ever, with Pakistan signaling imminent completion, Trump announcing a Sunday signing, and Iran urging caution on timing. As diplomatic efforts intensify, the coming hours will be critical in determining whether the agreement is finalized and how it reshapes regional stability.
