Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about regional developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation, as calls grow across the region for calm and for political rather than military responses to the crisis.

During the phone call, both sides stressed the importance of restraint and diplomacy. Pakistan reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and condemned the attacks that targeted the kingdom and its vital infrastructure.

Phone Call Between Mohammed bin Salman and Shehbaz Sharif

Regional Developments and De-Escalation

The Saudi Press Agency said in a statement that the Crown Prince received a phone call from the Pakistani prime minister, during which they discussed developments in the region and diplomatic efforts to lower tensions. The call reflects ongoing coordination between Riyadh and Islamabad on security and political issues tied to regional stability.

According to the statement, Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attacks on Saudi Arabia, strongly denounced the blatant violations of the kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support and solidarity with the kingdom.

Condemnation of Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

The Pakistani prime minister also condemned attacks that targeted Saudi Arabia’s vital oil infrastructure and stressed Pakistan’s support for Saudi security and stability. He praised Saudi Arabia’s restraint and its support for Iraqi government efforts to prevent Iraqi territory from being used to launch attacks against the kingdom and neighboring states.

Saudi Foreign Minister Says Gulf Security Depends on Sovereignty

Respect for Sovereignty as the Basis of Stability

In New Delhi, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah said Gulf security cannot be stable without respect for the sovereignty and independence of its states, non-interference in their internal affairs, adherence to good-neighborly relations, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

Speaking during the second day of the 2026 BRICS summit in the Indian capital, the minister said the region’s current priorities should focus on de-escalation and on creating space for political and diplomatic efforts.

Rejection of Attacks on Gulf Territory and Interests

Prince Faisal stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security, territorial integrity, and resources are not open to compromise, and that Gulf Cooperation Council states will not accept attacks on their territory, facilities, or vital interests, regardless of the excuses or labels used.

His remarks reflect Riyadh’s insistence that regional security is tied to national sovereignty and international law, while clearly rejecting any attacks on infrastructure or economic assets.

The Strait of Hormuz Remains a Core Security Concern

Freedom of Navigation and Ship Safety

The Saudi foreign minister also emphasized the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation and the safety of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and other maritime passages. He warned that any disruption would have effects beyond the region, reaching global markets, supply chains, and economic growth.

This warning underscores how any escalation in key maritime routes would threaten not just local security but also international energy markets and trade.

A Call for Calm

The remarks come as several regional and international actors push for de-escalation and to prevent the conflict from widening. Saudi messaging in this context reflects a call to address disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, while keeping Gulf security and maritime freedom at the center of the agenda.

Conclusion:

The phone conversation between the Saudi Crown Prince and Pakistan’s prime minister, together with the Saudi foreign minister’s remarks at the 2026 BRICS summit, shows clear alignment on the need to de-escalate tensions and respect Gulf sovereignty. Between the push for calm and the insistence on maritime security and protection of critical infrastructure, Riyadh and Islamabad continue to present a shared stance in favor of regional stability and against further escalation.
