The Vatican’s Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, confirmed on Wednesday that Pope Leo XIV has received an invitation to join the “Board of Peace,” an initiative by US President Donald Trump.
Speaking to journalists at an event in Rome, Parolin stated that the invitation is currently under review. “We’ve also received this invitation and the pope received it and we are looking at what to do,” he said, according to news agency reports.
Parolin, the second-highest-ranking official in the Vatican, indicated that a response would not be immediate. “We are researching and I believe it’s a question that demands a little time to be considered in order to give a response,” he added.
