Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that its forces carried out strikes on oil refineries, fuel depots, and energy infrastructure across Ukraine, as fighting between the two countries continues.
The developments come amid ongoing exchanges of drone attacks, with both sides reporting casualties and damage in recent operations.
Russian Strikes on Energy and Military Targets
According to a statement, Russia used tactical aviation, attack drones, missile forces, and artillery to target a wide range of Ukrainian infrastructure.
The strikes reportedly focused on:
– Oil refineries and fuel depots
– Energy and transportation infrastructure
– Military airfield facilities
– Logistics hubs
– Production and storage sites for long-range drones
Russia said the operations were part of its ongoing military campaign in Ukraine.
Russian Claims of Battlefield Progress
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its forces made advances across multiple front lines, within what it calls the “special military operation” zone.
It also claimed that 1,565 Ukrainian soldiers were killed or wounded, and that its air defense systems shot down 483 Ukrainian drones.
These figures could not be independently verified.
Drone Attack in Crimea Leaves Casualties
Separately, Russian authorities reported that a Ukrainian drone attack on the Kerch area in Crimea resulted in four deaths and 28 injuries.
Crimea’s regional head, Sergey Aksyonov, said the attack targeted locations on the peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.
The Russian Defense Ministry added that air defense systems intercepted 239 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions.
Ukrainian Reports of Injuries in Sumy
On the Ukrainian side, officials reported that six people were injured following Russian drone strikes on the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine.
According to the regional military administration, attacks continued throughout the night, including strikes on the regional center.
Authorities said the drone assaults caused injuries among civilians.
Ongoing Information Discrepancies
Since the start of the war on February 24, 2022, both Russia and Ukraine have issued near-daily reports on military operations, including casualty figures and drone interceptions.
However, due to the nature of the conflict, these claims are often released by the opposing sides without independent verification.
Key Developments
– Russia reports strikes on energy and fuel infrastructure in Ukraine
– Moscow claims battlefield advances and drone interceptions
– Four killed in Ukrainian drone attack in Crimea
– Six injured in Russian drone strike in Sumy

Conclusion
The latest developments highlight the ongoing intensity of the Russia-Ukraine war, with both sides targeting infrastructure and launching drone attacks. As the conflict continues, the lack of independently verified information adds to the complexity of understanding the full scope of the situation.
