Israel Detains 10 Palestinians, Including Journalist, in West Bank Raids

Israel detains 10 Palestinians, including a journalist, from several areas of the occupied West Bank, in the latest wave of raids and arrests carried out daily across West Bank towns and camps.

The arrests came as the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate warned that the lack of international accountability was encouraging further attacks on journalists and other media workers.

Arrests Reported in Ramallah, Nablus, Jenin and Bethlehem

The Palestinian news agency WAFA said four Palestinians were detained in the villages of Beit Rima and Amari camp in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate. Israeli forces also detained two Palestinians, one of them a journalist, in Nablus.

In Jenin, Israeli troops detained three people, including a child, during raids on the towns of Qabatiya and the village of Al-Asa’sa south of the city. Another young man was detained in Zaatara, east of Bethlehem.

The occupied West Bank and Jerusalem see daily raids and incursions by Israeli forces, often accompanied by arrests, clashes, and the use of live ammunition, rubber bullets, and tear gas against Palestinians.

Journalists’ Syndicate Warns Over Continued Targeting

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said the lack of international accountability for Israeli violations against journalists in Palestine, which it described as reaching the level of media genocide, is entrenching impunity and encouraging further abuses.

In a statement marking the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, the syndicate said Palestinian reporters have become direct targets of killing, injury, arrest, and abuse in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza by Israeli forces and settler groups.

Heavy Toll Since the Start of the War

The syndicate said the attacks on Palestinian journalists represent a broad assault on the foundations of journalistic work, noting that the number of journalists killed since the start of the war of extermination has reached 260, alongside hundreds of injured and detained media workers.

It praised a report by Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, titled “Truth Under the Rubble: Media in the Time of Genocide,” which she presented to the UN General Assembly in July 2026.

Calls for International Action and Accountability

According to the syndicate, the report said the media genocide carried out by Israel did not stop at targeting journalists while they were working, but also weakened the Palestinian media environment itself by killing or detaining journalists, destroying media institutions and offices, and disrupting communications and the internet.

The syndicate urged the International Criminal Court to announce concrete judicial steps on complaints filed over crimes committed against Palestinian journalists. It also called on the UN Human Rights Council’s permanent commission of inquiry to refer its findings to the ICC and asked UNESCO to form a committee to monitor and hold accountable those responsible for killing Palestinian journalists.

Its main demands included:

– Independent and serious international investigations into killings of Palestinian journalists

– Accountability before the competent international courts

– Activation of international justice mechanisms

– Protection for Palestinian journalists

– Prosecution of abuses committed against journalists in Israeli prisons

Impunity Seen as the Main Danger

The syndicate said the continued absence of international accountability is the greatest danger, given the inability to take practical measures that would end Israeli crimes and ensure perpetrators are held responsible.

It added that impunity encourages repetition of violations and threatens press freedom globally, calling on the international community to turn its stated commitments into real legal and political action to deliver justice, support victims and prevent future abuses.

Conclusion:

The latest developments reflect the continuing tensions on the ground in the West Bank, alongside growing concern over the safety of Palestinian journalists and the ability of international institutions to enforce accountability and deterrence.
