Major General Hadi al-Kinani began his duties on Saturday as commander of Baghdad Operations after the official order was issued appointing him to the post.
He started work in the command and began following up security files within his area of responsibility, according to Iraqi media reports.
Start of work at Baghdad Operations
Al-Kinani assumed his new role immediately after the formal appointment order, in a move aimed at strengthening security management in the capital and monitoring developments across the Baghdad Operations zone.
Baghdad Operations is one of the most important military and security formations responsible for maintaining security and stability in the capital and surrounding areas.
PMF takes over Bastamli sector in Amerli
In a separate security development, the Popular Mobilisation Forces said on Saturday that the 52nd Brigade had taken over the Bastamli sector in Amerli from the Iraqi army.
The PMF said in a statement that an official handover ceremony took place in the Amerli district east of Salah al-Din province, where the Second Battalion of the 86th Brigade in the Iraqi army transferred its field duties to the 52nd Brigade under the northern and eastern Tigris operations command.
Military presence from both sides
The handover ceremony was attended by 52nd Brigade commander Ahmed al-Amrli, the commander of a commando brigade, and a number of military leaders and officers from both sides.
According to the statement, the transfer was part of an effort to organise sector and security responsibilities in a way that would improve field coordination between the forces.
Coordination and readiness
The PMF said the move is intended to support efforts to maintain security and stability and to protect the area and its residents.
It added that the participants stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination and cooperation, while raising readiness and field control to ensure duties are carried out according to approved military procedures.
