The European Union announced on Monday that it is considering the imposition of additional sanctions against Iran following the government’s violent crackdown on widespread protests.
An EU spokesperson, Anouar El Anouni, stated that the bloc is prepared to act. “We stand ready to propose new, more severe sanctions following the violent crackdown on protesters,” he said.
The potential measures are a direct response to the methods used by Iranian authorities to suppress the demonstrations that have taken place across the country.
