A Ukraine drone explosion Constanța port incident occurred early Friday after a Ukrainian naval drone reportedly lost control and detonated near Romania’s Black Sea coastline. Kyiv acknowledged that the unmanned vessel belonged to Ukraine and said it malfunctioned due to alleged Russian electronic interference.

Romanian authorities launched investigations following reports of a strong blast inside the port area, while Russia denied any involvement in the incident.

Ukraine Says Drone Lost Control Due to Electronic Jamming

Ukraine’s Navy confirmed in a statement on Facebook that one of its maritime drones was disrupted by what it described as enemy electronic warfare systems.

According to the statement, the drone “was subjected to electronic jamming, lost control, and ended up near the Romanian coast,” where it later exploded.

Ukrainian officials did not immediately provide details regarding damage or casualties resulting from the explosion.

Russian Embassy Denies Responsibility

The Russian Embassy in Bucharest stated that the drone that exploded at Constanța port was of Ukrainian origin.

In a statement published on Telegram, the embassy said: “These are Ukrainian naval drones,” adding that attempts to link the incident to Russia “directly or indirectly have no basis whatsoever.”

The statement came amid ongoing accusations and counteraccusations between Moscow and Kyiv over drone operations in the Black Sea region.

Explosion Shakes Constanța Port

Romanian media reported that a powerful explosion was heard at the port of Constanța after authorities discovered what was believed to be an unmanned maritime vehicle, reportedly of Ukrainian origin.

Romanian officials initiated an intensive investigation to determine how the drone entered Romanian waters and the circumstances surrounding the blast.

Constanța is one of the most important ports on the Black Sea, making the incident particularly sensitive given the broader regional tensions linked to the Ukraine Russia conflict.

Broader Black Sea Security Concerns

The Ukraine drone explosion Constanța port highlights the expanding security risks associated with drone warfare in the Black Sea.

Key developments include:

– Ukrainian confirmation of ownership of the drone.

– Allegations of Russian electronic interference.

– Russian denial of any involvement.

– Romanian authorities launching formal investigations.

The incident underscores how the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to affect neighboring countries and critical maritime infrastructure.

Conclusion:

The Ukraine drone explosion Constanța port marks a significant security incident in the Black Sea. While Kyiv attributes the loss of control to Russian electronic warfare systems and Moscow rejects responsibility, Romanian investigations are expected to clarify further details about the blast and its implications.
