President Donald Trump’s administration called Friday on Japan and South Korea to do more to support Taiwan’s defense from China.
“We must urge these countries to increase defense spending, with a focus on the capabilities… necessary to deter adversaries and protect the First Island Chain,” said a new global security strategy, referring to the natural barrier of islands including Taiwan to China’s east.
