Iraq’s General Traffic Directorate on Saturday called on motorists and road users to exercise caution due to dense fog and reduced visibility affecting several areas of the country.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the directorate urged drivers, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours, to pay close attention to current weather conditions marked by heavy fog and limited visibility. It advised all motorists traveling between provinces and on highways and external roads to adhere to safety measures.
The statement stressed the importance of avoiding excessive speed, maintaining a safe distance between vehicles, and ensuring that front and rear lights as well as hazard indicators are properly used while driving in foggy conditions.
The directorate also noted that mobile traffic patrols are currently deploying traffic filters on external roads to regulate vehicle movement and escort traffic where necessary, aiming to enhance road safety and prevent traffic accidents.
