Syrian actress Huda Shaarawi was found killed in her Damascus home on Thursday at the age of 87, in an incident that has shocked the Syrian public and artistic community.

She was most widely known for her iconic role as the midwife “Umm Zaki” in the popular television series “Bab Al-Hara.” Her extensive body of work also includes notable roles in series such as “Ayam Shamiya,” “Aila 7 Nujoom,” and “Qillat Zouq w Kithrat Ghalaba.”
