US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged “restraint” Friday as violence escalates in Yemen, while he avoided taking sides between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
“We urge restraint and continued diplomacy, with a view to reaching a lasting solution,” Rubio said in a statement, adding Washington was “grateful for the diplomatic leadership” of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which support rival groups within Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
