Iraq Weather Update Rain and Snow Expected Across Regions

Iraq weather conditions are expected to shift over the coming days with forecasts indicating rain, snowfall, and a noticeable drop in temperatures across several provinces.
The Iraqi Meteorological Authority issued its latest report outlining expected weather patterns during this period of seasonal fluctuations affecting various regions of the country.

Weather Forecast for Thursday

The authority reports that Thursday will bring mostly clear to partly cloudy skies in central and southern Iraq while northern areas will experience increased cloud cover and scattered rainfall.
Snowfall is expected in the mountainous areas of the Kurdistan Region particularly in Duhok, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah.
Wind conditions will vary with moderate southeasterly winds in central and northern Iraq which may raise dust in western regions while winds remain light and variable in the south.

Forecast temperatures will reach:
• Duhok: 14
• Erbil: 17
• Sulaymaniyah: 18
• Nineveh: 19
• Kirkuk: 20
• Anbar and Salah al Din: 23
• Diyala and Wasit: 24
• Baghdad, Maysan, Muthanna: 25
• Najaf, Karbala, Babil, Diwaniyah, Basra: 26
• Dhi Qar: 27

Friday Weather Lower Temperatures in Central and Northern Iraq

On Friday the country will see unstable weather with partly cloudy skies in central and southern Iraq and cloudy conditions accompanied by rainfall in the north.
Snowfall will continue over the high-altitude areas of the Kurdistan Region while temperatures will drop in central and northern provinces and rise slightly in the south.

• Renewed rainfall expected in northern provinces.
• Snowfall likely in mountainous regions.
• Noticeable temperature decrease in central and northern Iraq.

Saturday Weather Continued Rain and Snow in the North

The authority forecasts clear to partly cloudy conditions in southern and central Iraq on Saturday while the north remains cloudy with continued rain and snowfall over mountain areas.
A further drop in temperature is expected across most parts of the country.

• Lower temperatures may affect traffic in mountainous areas.
• Risk of cold waves in exposed regions.
• Continued snowfall on Kurdistan’s highlands.

Sunday Weather Stable and Mostly Clear

Sunday is expected to bring relatively stable weather with clear to partly cloudy skies across Iraq. Temperatures will remain stable in central and northern regions with a slight decrease in the south.
