Iraq’s Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister on Thursday strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Both officials reaffirmed Baghdad’s firm rejection of using Iraqi territory or airspace to carry out attacks against neighboring states. A high-level investigative committee has been formed to determine the circumstances of the incidents and take legal action against those involved.

The statements reflect Iraq’s commitment to safeguarding regional stability and maintaining balanced diplomatic relations.

Parliament Speaker condemns the attacks

Parliament Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi wrote on platform X:

“We condemn the recent attacks that targeted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, our sister nations.”

He added that during a meeting with Prime Minister Ali Falah Al-Zaidi, Iraq reiterated its “firm position rejecting the use of Iraqi land or airspace to attack brotherly Arab states and friendly regional countries.”

Formation of investigation committee

Al-Halbousi confirmed an agreement to:

Establish a committee to investigate the attacks
Take all necessary legal measures against those responsible
Ensure strict accountability for anyone threatening Iraq’s security

He stressed that Iraq would not tolerate any individual or group seeking to destabilize the country or the wider region.

Prime Minister orders immediate investigation

Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi also renewed Iraq’s condemnation, stating:

“We reiterate our condemnation and denunciation of the criminal act that targeted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.”

He announced that a high-level investigative committee was formed during the first meeting of the National Security Council to examine the circumstances of the attacks.

Joint investigation with Saudi Arabia and UAE

Al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of conducting a joint investigation with authorities in both countries to:

Review all available evidence
Verify whether Iraqi territory was used
Take comprehensive legal and security measures

He affirmed Iraq’s rejection of using its land or airspace as a launching point for attacks against sisterly or friendly states.

Iraq’s commitment to regional stability

The Iraqi leadership underscored that Iraq must remain:

A meeting point for shared interests
A platform for cooperation, not conflict
A stabilizing actor in the region

The coordinated positions of both legislative and executive branches demonstrate unified national resolve.

Political and diplomatic implications

The official statements signal:

Iraq’s balanced foreign policy approach
Strong ties with Gulf countries
Commitment to sovereignty and non-interference
Determination to prevent regional escalation

Conclusion:

Iraq condemns attacks on Saudi Arabia and the UAE while reaffirming its refusal to allow its territory or airspace to be used in hostile actions. The formation of a joint investigative committee reflects the government’s seriousness in addressing the incident. Baghdad’s position highlights its broader commitment to regional security, diplomatic balance, and the protection of national sovereignty.
