Iran attacks Bahrain and Kuwait in a continued regional escalation, with Bahrain’s Defence Force announcing Wednesday that it intercepted and destroyed three missiles and several Iranian drones targeting civilian sites.

The developments prompted strong condemnation from Arab organizations and Gulf states, which described the strikes as violations of sovereignty and international law, and called for urgent international action to halt the escalation.

Bahrain Intercepts Three Missiles and Iranian Drones

The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force stated that air defense systems successfully engaged three missiles and a number of Iranian drones that were directed at civilian facilities.

In an official statement, the command confirmed that the projectiles were neutralized without significant damage. It stressed that the Kingdom remains on high alert to safeguard its airspace and counter any threats to national security and stability.

The interception marks one of the most direct defensive responses to the recent wave of attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in Gulf states.

Arab States and Organizations Condemn the Attacks

Arab organizations and several Gulf countries strongly condemned what they described as Iranian aggression against civilian and vital facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain.

In a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency, officials reaffirmed their rejection of the attacks, stating that they undermine the sovereignty of Gulf states and constitute a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

They urged the international community and the UN Security Council to adopt a firm and immediate stance to stop the violations and prevent further escalation, emphasizing the need to preserve regional and international peace and security.

Arab League Calls Strikes a Serious Escalation

The Arab League issued a strong condemnation of what it described as Iranian attacks on civilian facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain using ballistic missiles and drones.

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in a statement that the strikes on civilian objects and vital installations, including Kuwait International Airport, and the resulting casualties and material damage, represent a serious escalation and a blatant violation of the UN Charter, international humanitarian law, and the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols.

He called on Iran to immediately and unconditionally cease the attacks and refrain from policies of provocation and escalation that threaten regional security and stability.

The Arab League also reiterated its full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain, expressing support for any legitimate measures taken by both states to safeguard their sovereignty and protect their citizens.

GCC Describes Attacks as Unprecedented Escalation

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi also condemned what he described as ongoing Iranian aggression against Bahrain and Kuwait.

In a statement, he said that attacks targeting civilian objects, infrastructure, diplomatic missions, and official premises represent a serious and unprecedented escalation. He added that the actions reflect continued hostile policies that threaten the security, stability, and sovereignty of GCC member states.

Al-Budaiwi stressed that the persistence of such attacks poses a direct challenge to international law and the UN Charter, and requires a decisive international response to halt what he described as dangerous aggressive practices.

Broader Regional Implications

The Iran attacks Bahrain and Kuwait occur amid heightened tensions across the Gulf region. The targeting of civilian facilities, including airports and infrastructure, has raised concerns about the widening scope of confrontation.

Key developments include:

Interception of missiles and drones aimed at civilian targets.
Coordinated diplomatic condemnation from regional bodies.
Calls for international intervention to prevent further escalation.
Heightened military readiness in affected Gulf states.

The situation remains fluid, with regional actors closely monitoring developments and urging restraint to prevent further destabilization.

Conclusion:

The latest escalation involving Iran attacks Bahrain and Kuwait has triggered defensive responses and widespread diplomatic condemnation across the Arab world. As Bahrain confirms the interception of missiles and drones, regional organizations continue to press for an immediate halt to the attacks to avoid a broader conflict in the Gulf.
