Iran’s government on Tuesday accused the United States of attempting to manufacture a pretext for military intervention. The statement came in response to threats of “strong action” from US President Donald Trump over Tehran’s crackdown on recent mass protests.
In a post on the social media platform X, Iran’s mission to the United Nations stated, “US fantasies and policy toward Iran are rooted in regime change, with sanctions, threats, engineered unrest, and chaos serving as the modus operandi to manufacture a pretext for military intervention.”
The Iranian mission concluded its statement by vowing that Washington’s “playbook” would “fail again.”
