Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel issued a direct response to threats from the United States on Sunday, affirming his nation’s sovereignty. The statement followed Washington’s capture of the leader of Venezuela, a key regional ally of Cuba.
In a public post, President Diaz-Canel declared, “Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign nation. No one tells us what to do.”
He further stated that the island was “ready to defend the homeland to the last drop of blood,” signaling a firm stance against perceived US pressure.
