Baghdad – Iraqi News Agency (INA)
Baghdad Governor, Atwan al-Atwani, announced on Sunday the launch of a large-scale campaign to remove violations, debris, and distortions along the Baghdad–Mosul highway, in preparation for its reopening in the coming days.
In a statement, al-Atwani explained that the campaign involves the participation of municipal departments, the water and sewage directorates, the emergency unit, and the Directorate of Roads and Bridges. The effort aims to restore the capital’s urban image and improve traffic flow on this vital route.
The governor urged citizens to cooperate with service teams in clearing debris and waste around the highway for the sake of public interest, stressing that fines will be imposed on violators to ensure the road remains preserved after its reopening.
Al-Atwani further noted that the province has begun rehabilitating and upgrading the road to high-quality standards after it was completely damaged, so that it matches the importance of this main entrance to the capital.
