The Seismological Department of the Iraqi Meteorological Organization announced on Saturday that a minor earthquake was recorded south of Erbil.
According to the department’s statement, seismic observatories detected the tremor at a distance of approximately 70 km south of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region. The quake had a magnitude of 3.2 and occurred at a depth of 7 km.
Residents in nearby areas reported feeling the tremor, though no casualties or material damages were recorded.
The Seismological Department urged citizens to rely on official statements and avoid rumors, emphasizing the importance of following safety guidelines during seismic events.
