Three people were killed and several others injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency. The strikes targeted the town of Al-Douair and several other areas in the Tyre and Marjeyoun districts. The escalation comes amid continued violations of a ceasefire agreement extended earlier this month. The cumulative death toll from Israeli operations since March has now surpassed 3,123, raising concerns about worsening humanitarian conditions.

Three killed in Al-Douair

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Al-Douair was hit by a series of Israeli warplane and drone strikes.

The attacks resulted in three fatalities and multiple injuries, along with significant destruction of residential buildings and commercial properties.

Emergency services transported the wounded and began clearing debris.

Damage reported

  • Destruction of homes
  • Damage to shops and businesses
  • Injuries of varying severity
  • Widespread structural damage

Strikes expand across Tyre district

Israeli warplanes also targeted a building in Al-Burj Al-Shamali and another strike hit Al-Maashouq near Tyre.

An additional airstrike struck the town of Sadiqine in the Tyre district.

Artillery shelling was reported in Al-Sawana in Marjeyoun, while further strikes targeted the outskirts of Tyre.

Areas affected

  • Al-Douair
  • Al-Burj Al-Shamali
  • Al-Maashouq
  • Sadiqine
  • Al-Sawana
  • Outskirts of Tyre

Intensified Israeli bombardment

Reports indicate Israeli forces intensified airstrikes across southern Lebanon in recent days.

Strikes were carried out between Kafra, Haris, and Zibqin, as well as on the town of Al-Qalila south of Tyre.

Villages including Al-Mansouri, Tebnin, Al-Shahabiya, Arzoun, Qabrikha, Tora, Srifa, and Al-Hinniya were also hit.

Infrastructure targeted

  • Residential neighborhoods
  • Public roads
  • Electricity networks
  • Civilian infrastructure

Rescue efforts in Tora

In Tora, civil defense teams and local authorities worked to remove rubble following a dawn strike that destroyed a house and blocked a main road.

The attack resulted in one fatality and damage to surrounding buildings.

Efforts continue to reopen the road and secure the area.

Ongoing challenges

  • Clearing heavy debris
  • Searching for potential missing persons
  • Ensuring civilian safety
  • Restoring basic services

Evacuation warnings issued

The Israeli army issued evacuation warnings to residents in several towns, including Nabatieh al-Tahta, Louaizeh, Sejoud, Ain Qana, Harouf, Zibdine, Kfar Rumman, Al-Douair, Adshit Al-Shqif, and Meidoun.

The warnings have raised fears of further escalation.

Implications of warnings

  • Possible additional strikes
  • Pressure on civilian populations
  • Risk of displacement
  • Ongoing military operations

Continued ceasefire violations

The attacks come despite a ceasefire agreement that began on April 16 for ten days and was extended on April 24 for three weeks.

The truce was extended again on May 15 for an additional 45 days.

However, reports indicate repeated violations during the extension period.

Consequences of truce breaches

  • Rising security tensions
  • Increased casualties
  • Undermining de-escalation efforts
  • Risk of broader confrontation

Humanitarian and security impact

The intensification of Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon has worsened humanitarian conditions.

Medical facilities face mounting pressure, while civilian infrastructure continues to suffer damage.

Displacement and economic disruption are also growing concerns.

Broader risks

  • Expansion of hostilities
  • Increased targeting of civilian infrastructure
  • Strain on emergency services
  • Heightened regional instability

Conclusion:

The latest Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, reflecting a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities. Continued ceasefire violations and evacuation warnings point to persistent instability in the region. With the overall death toll exceeding 3,123 since March, concerns remain high about the humanitarian and security consequences if the conflict intensifies further.
