Iraq Weather Sees Thunderstorms Dust and Falling Temperatures This Week

Iraq weather is expected to witness thunderstorms dust and lower temperatures in the coming days according to the Iraqi Meteorological Authority on Sunday.

The forecast indicates notable variation across the northern central and southern regions with wind activity that may reduce visibility in some areas.

Iraq Weather Forecast for Monday

The Meteorological Authority reported that Monday’s weather will be clear with some clouds while temperatures will drop across most provinces.

The expected maximum temperatures are as follows:

  • Duhok 18
  • Erbil and Nineveh 20
  • Sulaymaniyah 21
  • Kirkuk Salah al Din and Anbar 23
  • Diyala 24
  • Baghdad 26
  • Karbala Najaf and Diwaniyah 27
  • Wasit and Babil 28
  • Muthanna 29
  • Maysan 30
  • Dhi Qar and Basra 31

Wind Activity and Visibility Levels

The Authority noted moderate winds that may increase during the day causing dust rise especially in open areas which reduces visibility.

Tuesday Thunderstorms in the North Dust in Central and Southern Iraq

Tuesday is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions over the northern region with chances of thunderstorm rain showers.

Central and southern regions will remain mostly clear with scattered clouds.

Winds will be northwesterly between 20 and 30 km/h increasing to 40 km/h causing dust in central and southern provinces.

Visibility will range between 6 and 8 km dropping to 2 and 4 km in dusty areas.

Temperature Overview

A slight decrease in temperatures is expected on Tuesday according to the Meteorological Authority.

Wednesday Stable Weather in Central and Southern Iraq

Wednesday’s forecast shows clear weather in central and southern areas while the north will see cloudy skies.

Temperatures will remain close to Tuesday levels.

Thursday Thunderstorms Light to Moderate Rain and Slight Warmup

Thursday’s weather will be cloudy in the northern region and the western parts of central Iraq with light to moderate rain that may be accompanied by thunder.

Southern Iraq will experience clear skies.

Winds will be southeasterly between 30 and 40 km/h raising dust in multiple areas.

Visibility will range from 6 to 8 km and fall to 2 to 4 km in dusty regions.

A slight rise in temperatures is also expected.

The Iraqi Meteorological Authority’s readings indicate continuing weather fluctuations throughout the week with chances of rain and dust in several provinces which calls for following ongoing official updates.
