Ramadan Directives in Iraq have been announced as authorities prepare for the holy month with coordinated security and administrative measures across the country. The Ministry of Interior outlined a nationwide security plan, while senior state officials issued formal greetings marking the occasion.

The steps come as Iraq typically witnesses increased public movement during Ramadan, particularly around mosques, markets, and public spaces after iftar and during suhoor hours. Officials say the measures aim to ensure stability and smooth daily life throughout the month.

Interior Minister Announces Ramadan Security Plan

Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir al Shammari issued several directives related to Ramadan during an expanded conference held at the Ministry’s operations headquarters. The meeting was attended by deputy ministers, directors general, and Baghdad police commanders, with provincial police chiefs participating via video conference.

According to a statement from the Ministry’s media office carried by the Iraqi News Agency, the conference reviewed procedures adopted to secure the days of Ramadan across all provinces.

Al Shammari stressed the importance of:

Intensifying intelligence efforts near mosques and markets.
• Increasing security presence in crowded public areas, especially after iftar and during suhoor.
• Ensuring smooth traffic flow on main roads.
• Deploying traffic police and civil defense units in key locations.

The statement added that discussions focused on strengthening coordination to maintain security and public order throughout the holy month.

Official Ramadan Greetings from Presidency and Parliament

In a related development, the Iraqi Presidency extended congratulations to the Iraqi people and Muslim communities on the occasion of Ramadan.

In an official statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency, the Presidency said the holy month represents an opportunity to renew values of charity and solidarity, and to strengthen bonds among Iraqis of all backgrounds. It added that the occasion supports efforts toward reform, stability, and meeting the aspirations of the Iraqi people.

Speaker of Parliament Mohammed al Halbousi also congratulated Iraqis on the arrival of Ramadan. He said the month offers a moment to reinforce national unity and social cohesion, and to reaffirm the importance of cooperation and mutual support among all components of Iraqi society.

Reduced Working Hours in Muthanna and Diwaniyah

At the administrative level, the provinces of Muthanna and Diwaniyah announced a reduction of official working hours in all government departments during Ramadan, in line with directives from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

According to official documents issued by the offices of the two governors, the decision is based on instructions from the Council of Ministers Affairs Department to reduce working hours by one hour during the holy month.

The Muthanna provincial administration stated that official working hours will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm throughout Ramadan.

Diwaniyah province clarified that one hour will be deducted from the regular daily schedule, specifically the final hour of work, with implementation effective from the date of issuance. Both provinces called on all departments and administrative units to comply with the directive.

Conclusion:

The Ramadan Directives in Iraq reflect coordinated preparations combining security planning, administrative adjustments, and official messages emphasizing unity and social solidarity. Authorities say the measures are intended to ensure a stable and secure environment during the holy month nationwide.
