Polling staff rewards

Banned in many countries, cockfighting is commonly practised across the planet: popular in India or the Philippines, it is tolerated in certain departments in northern France or overseas territories in the name of tradition. The Independent High Electoral Commission announced that polling staff rewards will be released starting Tuesday in three Iraqi provinces, as part of its approved schedule to settle election-related payments.

The commission confirmed that the payments will cover Basra, Duhok, and Maysan, while preparations continue to release rewards in the remaining provinces in stages.

The move follows the completion of most MasterCard distribution procedures, carried out in coordination with Rafidain Bank.

Details of Polling Staff Rewards Distribution

Commission spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai said the electoral administration, through the administrative and financial department, has credited MasterCard cards with funds allocated for polling staff rewards in the three provinces.

She stated that the payment process will officially begin on Tuesday, in accordance with procedures designed to ensure all eligible staff receive their entitlements.

Registration Centers Covered by Payments

According to the commission, rewards will be distributed as follows:

Basra Province:

76 registration centers
Maysan and Duhok Provinces:

41 registration centers in each province

Polling staff were advised to visit their designated registration centers to collect their MasterCard cards.

Payments to Continue in Remaining Provinces

The commission confirmed it is continuing coordination with Rafidain Bank to complete the distribution of remaining MasterCard cards to provincial election offices.

It noted that card distribution has reached approximately 90 percent nationwide, with financial credits to be issued sequentially once administrative procedures are finalized.

Background on the Parliamentary Elections

Special voting for the Iraqi parliamentary elections was held on November 9, 2025, followed by general voting on November 11.

The elections covered 18 electoral districts, with 8,703 polling centers and a total of 39,258 polling stations across all Iraqi provinces.

Conclusion:

The launch of polling staff rewards reflects the commission’s commitment to meeting its financial obligations to election workers, with full nationwide coverage expected in the coming period.
