The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday its welcome of recent positive changes made by several European countries to their travel advisories regarding Iraq.

In a statement received by INA, the ministry said these updates reflect the success of diplomatic efforts carried out by Iraq and its embassies abroad.

According to the statement, France, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands have all revised their travel guidance, easing restrictions on travel to Iraq. This step is expected to encourage greater foreign investment, facilitate tourism, and open the door to stronger economic and cultural cooperation.

The ministry particularly commended the decision of the Dutch Foreign Ministry to downgrade its travel warning for certain regions, including Baghdad, from the “red” category to “orange” after many years of strict advisories. It described the shift as the result of intensive diplomatic work and joint efforts between the foreign ministries of Baghdad and The Hague, as well as the ongoing contributions of Iraqi embassies worldwide in promoting Iraq’s positive image.

The statement reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to working with international partners to provide a secure and attractive environment for investors and tourists alike. The ministry stressed that these developments highlight Iraq’s progress toward stability and sustainable development.
