West Ham vs Man United ended in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday after Benjamin Sesko scored in stoppage time to deny the London side a crucial victory in the Premier League. The result halted Manchester United’s four-match winning run under interim manager Michael Carrick.

At the London Stadium, West Ham were seconds away from a win that would have boosted their fight against relegation. However, Sesko’s late intervention ensured United extended Carrick’s unbeaten start to five matches.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur fell to 16th place after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, increasing pressure on head coach Thomas Frank.

West Ham vs Man United: Late Equaliser Denies Hammers

West Ham broke the deadlock early in the second half through Tomas Soucek, who finished from close range after meeting Jarrod Bowen’s low cross. The move exposed gaps in United’s defence, with Soucek timing his run between defenders before guiding the ball home from five yards.

United struggled for rhythm for much of the match. Bruno Fernandes created one of the few first-half opportunities from a corner, but Luke Shaw’s close-range effort was cleared off the line by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Casemiro later had a header ruled out for offside following a VAR review. As time ran down, it appeared West Ham would secure all three points.

However, in the final seconds of stoppage time, Bryan Mbeumo delivered a cross into the area and Sesko flicked the ball past goalkeeper Mads Hermansen from 10 yards to level the score.

Carrick admitted his side lacked sharpness.

“We were definitely not at our best,” he said. “We didn’t have that sharpness to find the answers. Great spirit again and we will take the point and move on.”

The draw keeps Manchester United fourth in the Premier League standings, one point ahead of Chelsea.

Impact on the Table

The result leaves:

Manchester United in 4th place
Chelsea in 5th after drawing 2-2 with Leeds
West Ham two points from safety in the relegation battle

West Ham remain in the bottom three and are chasing Nottingham Forest, who have a game in hand against bottom-placed Wolves.

Tottenham Drop to 16th After Newcastle Defeat

Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle pushed them down to 16th place, just five points above the relegation zone. The result intensified frustration among Spurs supporters, who directed chants at head coach Thomas Frank after another disappointing home performance.

Newcastle took the lead in first-half stoppage time when Malick Thiaw finished from close range after sustained pressure.

Archie Gray briefly equalised for Tottenham after the break. However, Jacob Ramsey quickly restored Newcastle’s advantage, sealing only their third away league win of the season.

Frank acknowledged the pressure following the match.

“We understand we are not in a top position and we need to do everything we can to get out,” he said. “I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to point at me.”

Tottenham have now failed to win 11 of their 13 home league matches this season.

Chelsea Held, Everton Stumble

Chelsea’s push for Champions League qualification slowed after they surrendered a 2-0 lead in a 2-2 draw against Leeds at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Pedro opened the scoring before Cole Palmer converted a penalty. However, Moises Caicedo conceded a spot-kick after a challenge on Jayden Bogle, allowing Lukas Nmecha to reduce the deficit.

Noah Okafor later scored the equaliser following a goalmouth scramble. Palmer missed a late chance to secure victory deep into stoppage time.

In another result, Bournemouth came from behind to defeat Everton 2-1. Goals from Rayan and Amine Adli lifted Bournemouth level on points with eighth-placed Everton, dealing a setback to Everton’s hopes of European qualification for the first time since 2017.

Conclusion:

The latest round of Premier League fixtures tightened both the race for Champions League qualification and the battle to avoid relegation. While Manchester United maintained their unbeaten run under Michael Carrick, Tottenham’s slide toward the lower end of the table has increased pressure on their manager.
