The US–Iran deal could be finalized within “two or three hours,” President Donald Trump said on Sunday, signaling what he described as imminent progress toward an agreement with Tehran.

His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions, including Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.

Trump: Agreement Imminent

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he believes the agreement with Iran could be signed within hours.

He added that if the deal is completed Sunday night, he would immediately issue an order lifting the naval blockade on Iran.

Trump indicated the initial signing could take place remotely, followed by a formal in-person signing in Europe within a week.

Call for Restraint in Lebanon

Trump also said he would ask Iran not to respond to Israeli strikes targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs.

He revealed that he had requested Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to refrain from launching additional strikes in Lebanon.

According to Trump, he informed Netanyahu of his anger over the Beirut attack, describing it as a serious misjudgment at a sensitive diplomatic moment.

US Officials Signal Progress

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington is on the right path toward signing the agreement with Iran.

He stated that the question is not whether the deal will be signed, but when.

Hegseth also urged Iran to firmly press Hezbollah to halt attacks on Israel, describing Israel’s response so far as measured in light of the ongoing negotiations.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said President Trump and Vice President JD Vance are fully committed to signing the agreement Sunday.

Diplomatic Push Amid Regional Tensions

The anticipated agreement comes amid ongoing tensions in Lebanon and broader Middle East instability.

Key developments include:

– Ongoing Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

– US mediation efforts to prevent wider conflict.

– Diplomatic momentum toward a US–Iran understanding.

– Discussions of phased implementation and formal signing.

The proposed agreement is seen as a potential turning point after months of escalating tensions.

Conclusion:

As negotiations approach what US officials describe as a decisive stage, the potential signing of a US–Iran deal within hours marks a critical moment in regional diplomacy. Whether the agreement materializes as anticipated will likely shape the security landscape in the Middle East in the coming weeks.
