Trump Iran talks are moving in what the US president described as the right direction, although no final agreement has been reached.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, President Donald Trump expressed cautious optimism about ongoing negotiations with Tehran, while emphasizing that any deal must meet strict US conditions, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

The White House also confirmed that discussions are progressing, underlining what it described as clear red lines in the negotiations.

Trump: We are on the right path

Trump said he believes talks with Iran are heading in the right direction. He added that he would grant Tehran a short opportunity to reach an understanding, citing a request from Pakistan’s prime minister and army chief.

He stated that any framework agreement would include the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime corridor for global energy supplies.

Trump stressed that he would not accept what he described as an imperfect agreement, noting that while a good deal may be possible, it might not necessarily be a “great” one. He also indicated that a general understanding has been reached at this stage.

No agreement yet, says Trump

In later remarks delivered in the presence of the US secretaries of state and defense, Trump confirmed that no agreement has been finalized so far.

“Iran wants to reach a deal and I do not believe it has another option,” he said, adding that the United States would either conclude an agreement or “finish the mission,” without providing further details.

Trump also addressed speculation that Iranian officials expect him to end tensions due to upcoming US midterm elections, stating that he does not take such considerations into account.

White House: Negotiations progressing well

A White House official said the negotiations with Iran are proceeding well, reiterating that the president would only sign a deal that serves the interests of the American people.

The official added that the talks have clearly defined red lines, particularly concerning Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

He emphasized that any agreement must guarantee that Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon under any circumstances.

Key points in the current negotiations

The current situation is characterized by:

Public optimism about progress in talks
Confirmation that no final deal has been reached
A proposed framework reportedly including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz
A firm US demand that Iran not acquire a nuclear weapon

Conclusion:

While President Trump has expressed confidence that negotiations with Iran are moving forward, both he and the White House have made clear that no agreement has been finalized. The outcome of the talks will depend on whether both sides can bridge remaining differences, particularly over nuclear restrictions and enforcement mechanisms.
