Strikes on Iran continued late Sunday and into Monday as several locations in Tehran and western provinces were hit during ongoing US Israeli military operations. Explosions were reported across the capital including near state television, a police headquarters, and a hospital.
The escalation marked the second day of coordinated attacks as Iranian authorities confirmed casualties in both Tehran and the northwest city of Sanandaj.
H2: Tehran shaken by repeated explosions on Sunday night AFP journalists in the capital reported multiple powerful detonations between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm local time. The blasts rattled windows across several districts while ISNA noted explosions in eastern and northeastern Tehran.
H3: State TV says its facilities were targeted
Iran’s state broadcaster confirmed that one of its sites was struck, though transmission remained uninterrupted. The channel said technical teams were assessing the damage. It recalled that its facilities were hit previously during the June confrontation with Israel.
H3: Police station struck in Rey with casualties reported
Local media including Tasnim reported that a police headquarters in the city of Rey, south of Tehran, was hit during the strikes.
Initial reports said several people were killed and others trapped under rubble affecting the police building and nearby residential structures.
H2: Hospital in northern Tehran damaged
ISNA reported that Gandhi Hospital in northern Tehran was struck during the ongoing US Israeli campaign. Footage published by Fars and Mizan showed debris inside the facility, including damaged equipment and wheelchairs.
Authorities did not immediately disclose casualty figures from the hospital incident.
H2: Strikes kill civilians in Sanandaj, western Iran
In the western province of Kurdistan, the governor of Sanandaj, Gharib Sajjadi, told IRNA that residential neighborhoods were hit by air strikes.
He confirmed that at least three people were killed and several others injured adding that the death toll could rise due to the severity of the damage.
H3: Overview of affected areas
According to Iranian state media the latest strikes targeted:
• Tehran’s state TV facilities
• Gandhi Hospital in northern Tehran
• Rey Police Headquarters and nearby homes
• Residential buildings in Sanandaj
H3: Why the escalation matters
The attacks come during the third day of open confrontation between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.
For Iraq the escalation raises concerns about regional stability and the potential for spillover including disruptions in trade and cross border movement as well as risks to diplomatic efforts aimed at de escalation.
Conclusion:
Strikes on Iran continued for a second day with Tehran and western regions experiencing significant damage and casualties. Iranian authorities said assessments were underway as rescue teams worked to reach those trapped under debris.
