Russian attacks across multiple regions of Ukraine intensified on Wednesday, with Ukrainian authorities reporting that the death toll had risen to eight, while 47 others were injured, hours after officials announced that six people had been killed in a missile strike on the outskirts of Kryvyi Rih.

At the same time, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had carried out a large-scale overnight operation targeting military airfields, defense industry facilities, communications centers, and logistics infrastructure across several parts of Ukraine.

Kryvyi Rih Strike Marked the Beginning of the Wave

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian authorities said a ballistic missile struck a village on the outskirts of Kryvyi Rih, killing six people, including two children, and injuring eight others.

According to the head of the city’s military administration, the missile was launched from Russia’s Voronezh region, destroying a residential house and leaving emergency crews searching through the rubble for possible survivors.

Rescue Operations Continue

Emergency teams remained at the scene clearing debris and searching for additional victims, while local officials warned that the death toll could still rise as rescue efforts continued.

Attacks Spread to Kyiv, Lviv and Other Regions

Later, Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian strikes had expanded to several other regions, pushing the nationwide casualty toll to eight dead and 47 injured.

According to official Ukrainian reports:

  • One person was killed and seven others injured in Kyiv.
  • One person was killed in Poltava.
  • Six people were killed and ten injured in Dnipropetrovsk.
  • Thirty people were injured in Lviv.

Ukraine’s Air Force also announced that its air defenses intercepted 265 drones and 55 Russian missiles during the overnight attacks.

One of the Broadest Attack Waves

The strikes stretched across central, western, and eastern Ukraine, indicating one of the most extensive coordinated attack waves in recent weeks.

H2: Moscow Says Military Infrastructure Was Targeted

Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces carried out a large-scale precision strike using land-, air-, and sea-based long-range weapons.

According to the ministry, the operation targeted military airfields, defense industry facilities, communications centers, logistics hubs, drone production and storage sites, missile infrastructure, as well as cargo vessels in Ukrainian ports and multiple drone control centers.

Competing Narratives

While Ukrainian authorities reported civilian casualties and damage to residential areas, Russia maintained that the strikes were directed exclusively at military infrastructure.

Neither side’s battlefield claims could be independently verified.

Fighting Continues Without Signs of De-escalation

The latest attacks come amid continuing escalation in the Russia–Ukraine war, with both sides carrying out frequent strikes against infrastructure and strategic facilities.

Moscow and Kyiv continue to release daily military updates reporting casualties, intercepted drones, and operational achievements, although many of these claims remain independently unverified.

Escalation Persists

The latest developments suggest that large-scale military operations continue despite ongoing international efforts to reduce tensions, with no immediate indication of a broader ceasefire or political breakthrough.

Conclusion

The latest Russian offensive evolved from the deadly strike on the outskirts of Kryvyi Rih into a broader wave of attacks affecting multiple Ukrainian regions, increasing the reported casualty toll. While Ukraine says civilians were among those killed and injured, Russia maintains that its operation targeted military infrastructure, highlighting the continuing divergence between the two sides’ accounts as the conflict intensifies.
