Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 133 Ukrainian drones overnight in southwestern regions of the country.

The statement comes amid ongoing cross-border attacks involving drones and missiles between Moscow and Kyiv.

133 Drones Shot Down

According to the ministry, the drones were launched toward multiple southwestern provinces.

Officials said Ukrainian forces continue to target Russian territory almost daily using unmanned aerial vehicles and other long-range weapons.

No detailed information was provided regarding specific locations or the extent of material damage.

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Facility Targeted

In a separate development, the administration of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant reported a new drone attack on the facility’s transport workshop.

A statement said that at least 14 strikes were recorded, with one causing a fire inside the workshop.

Authorities confirmed there were no casualties or injuries but noted damage to several buildings.

They added that the full extent of the damage could not be assessed due to continued security risks and repeated threats of further attacks.

The administration stated that the attacks aimed to disrupt the plant’s transport infrastructure and logistics operations, potentially posing additional safety risks.

Weekly Military Report

In its weekly update covering June 13 to 19, the Russian Ministry of Defense said Ukrainian forces suffered 10,250 casualties across various battlefronts.

The report also stated that Russian forces conducted six strikes against Ukrainian targets and regained control of three settlements in the Donetsk region.

Additionally, Russian air defenses reportedly intercepted:

– 3,909 drones

– 8 “Flamingo” missiles

– 5 HIMARS rockets

Ongoing Information War

Since the outbreak of the war in February 2022, both Russia and Ukraine have issued near-daily updates on battlefield developments.

However, most figures released by either side remain unverified by independent sources.

Drone warfare has become a central feature of the conflict, with both sides increasingly relying on unmanned systems to strike military and infrastructure targets.

Conclusion:

Russia’s latest claims of downing 133 Ukrainian drones and reporting heavy weekly losses highlight the continued intensity of the conflict.

As cross-border drone attacks and military operations persist, both sides continue to release battlefield assessments, underscoring the ongoing escalation and reliance on aerial technologies.
