Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said rocket attacks on Israel on Monday hurt his government’s efforts to spare Lebanon from regional war.
“The launching of missiles from Lebanese territory this morning targets all the efforts and endeavors made by the Lebanese state to keep Lebanon away from the dangerous military confrontations taking place in the region,” Aoun said in a statement.
Iran-backed Hezbollah had earlier claimed rocket and drone attacks on Israel in response to the killing of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
