Baghdad – Iraqi News Agency (INA)

The Iraqi Meteorological Authority announced on Thursday that the country has exited the influence of seasonal summer heatwaves, forecasting mild conditions for the coming week and a rainy autumn ahead.

Spokesman for the Meteorology and Seismology Authority, Amer Al-Jabri, told INA that “temperatures are gradually decreasing with the arrival of autumn and will remain close to their seasonal averages, while the weather is expected to stay generally stable.”

He added that forecasts indicate a rainy season, with showers likely to start intermittently and sometimes accompanied by atmospheric disturbances due to climate change. Initial indicators, he noted, suggest this year’s rainfall will be slightly better compared to recent seasons.

Al-Jabri explained that “the first month of autumn recorded slightly higher-than-average temperatures, but conditions are expected to normalize as the season advances.” He further stressed that autumn will overall be moderate, with rainfall varying across different regions.

The spokesman underlined that the current stage reflects a state of weather instability caused by climate fluctuations, making forecasts preliminary. However, he emphasized the authority’s commitment to providing accurate and timely information to serve the public.
