Iran attacks Gulf states as multiple regional governments announce intercepting waves of missiles and drones launched from Iranian territory. The attacks enter their fifth day, prompting heightened security measures across the region.
Officials in the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait reported attempted aerial intrusions that were countered by air defense systems. Meanwhile, Turkey clarified its position after speculation regarding a missile heading toward its airspace, and NATO issued a firm condemnation of Iranian actions.

UAE intercepts 3 missiles and 121 drones

The UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed intercepting three ballistic missiles and tracking 129 drones. The ministry reported neutralizing 121 drones through air defense systems while eight drones fell inside Emirati territory without causing casualties.

Details of the attack on the UAE

• The attacks occurred on March 4.
• The Emirati military reaffirmed full readiness to confront continuing escalation.
• No significant damage has been reported, highlighting the effectiveness of the defense response.

Qatar intercepts 10 drones and two cruise missiles

The Qatari military announced that ten drones and two cruise missiles were launched toward Doha early Wednesday. Officials said all incoming threats were intercepted before reaching populated areas.

Qatar’s response to the escalation

• Coordination continues with regional defense partners.
• No damage or casualties were reported.
• The attack forms part of a wider Iranian escalation targeting Gulf states.

Kuwait confirms missile and drone activity

The Kuwaiti military stated that it detected a new wave of missiles and drones entering its airspace on Wednesday. Air defense units engaged incoming threats as sirens were activated in Kuwait City according to AFP.

Kuwait’s defensive measures

• Interception efforts remain ongoing.
• Authorities urged residents to follow emergency safety instructions.
• No immediate reports of casualties were issued.

Turkey says it was not directly targeted

A senior Turkish official told AFP that a missile launched from Iran was heading toward Turkish airspace but was not intended to strike Turkey. The official added that preliminary assessments suggest the target was a base in Greek Cyprus before the missile deviated off course.

NATO condemns the attack

Despite Ankara’s clarification, NATO condemned the missile incident. Spokesperson Oana Lungescu stated that the alliance stands with Turkey and is prepared to support defensive measures against any threats.

Regional implications and Gulf security concerns

The escalation has raised concerns about broader instability affecting Gulf and regional security. For Iraq, developments in the Gulf carry significant implications given shared geography, economic connections, and regional security dynamics.
Key concerns include:
• Potential threats to energy routes and maritime trade.
• Increased pressure on regional air defense networks.
• Risks of expanding the conflict into new areas.

Conclusion:

The ongoing Iranian attacks on Gulf states signal a new phase of regional tension. With continued interception efforts by Gulf militaries, attention turns to whether diplomatic efforts can prevent a wider escalation.
