Israel said Wednesday that Iran missiles remain a significant threat despite ongoing US Israeli operations targeting Iranian launch sites. The statement came as new missile salvos were detected and explosions were heard over Jerusalem.
The conflict has entered its fifth day with Iran continuing to fire ballistic missiles and drones while US and Israeli forces strike Iranian facilities across multiple provinces.
Israeli military warns of sustained Iran missiles capability
Brigadier General Effie Defrin said Israeli strikes had destroyed dozens of launchers in Iran. He added that although several launch sites were hit the Iranian military still maintains the ability to fire missiles toward Israeli territory.
In a televised briefing he said Israel would continue targeting missile launch areas and highlighted that Israeli air defense systems cannot provide complete protection.
Strike on ballistic missile facility in Isfahan
The Israeli army reported overnight strikes on what it described as a facility for storage production and launching of ballistic missiles in the Isfahan region. The site included systems capable of firing Ghadr class missiles according to the statement.
New Iran missiles launched toward Israel
The Israeli army later announced detection of fresh missiles fired from inside Iran toward Israeli territory. Air defense systems attempted to intercept the incoming projectiles and the public received mobile alerts instructing them to seek shelter.
Explosions reported over Jerusalem
AFP journalists in Jerusalem reported multiple explosions shortly after the alert. The blasts came roughly two hours after an earlier missile salvo triggered sirens across the city.
US military says Iranian missile and drone fire declining
General Dan Caine the top US military officer said Iranian ballistic missile launches had decreased by 86 percent compared with the start of the fighting. Drone launches also dropped according to the Pentagon briefing.
Caine said more than 500 ballistic missiles and around 2000 drones had been launched by Iran since the confrontation began. He confirmed that the United States is targeting Iran’s missile infrastructure to reduce threats to American forces and regional partners.
US officials say munitions stock sufficient
Asked about concerns over interceptor shortages Caine said US forces possess sufficient precision munitions. He noted that the defensive advantage of US systems continues to expand.
Conclusion:
The ongoing exchange between Iran and the US Israeli coalition continues to raise regional concerns as missile and drone launches persist. Both sides claim progress in limiting threats although Israeli officials warn that Iran missiles remain a significant danger.
