The Iran internet blackout has now extended for a full week, according to the web monitoring group Netblocks. The nationwide shutdown was imposed by Iranian authorities, raising concerns among activists that the measure is intended to conceal the extent of a government crackdown on recent protests.
“Exactly one week ago… Iran fell into digital darkness as authorities imposed a national internet blackout,” Netblocks stated in a social media post on Thursday. The disruption has severely limited the flow of information from within the country.
