Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday, defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in a competitive Clasico final held in Jeddah. Goals from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski helped secure the club’s record 16th title in the tournament.

The first half ended in a 2-2 draw after a rapid exchange of goals. Raphinha opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 36th minute, which was soon answered by an individual effort from Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior. Lewandowski put Barcelona ahead again just before the break, but Gonzalo Garcia scored an equalizer for Madrid in stoppage time.

The decisive goal came in the 73rd minute when a deflected shot from Raphinha found the net. Despite a late red card for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, the team held on for the victory. The win marks the fourth trophy for Barcelona under coach Hansi Flick.

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso acknowledged the close nature of the match. “Whatever way you lose it hurts, but it’s clear that this was a very even game, hotly competed, with a bit of everything,” Alonso told Movistar. “We fought it out until the end and I have to congratulate Barca.”

Barcelona’s Lewandowski also commented on the victory, stating, “We’re very happy, another trophy, it’s always a big game against Madrid. We won and that’s the most important thing.”

The result ended Real Madrid’s five-game winning streak across all competitions.
