Louvre Museum in Paris closed Monday morning due to strike_ AFP

A notice informs members of the public of the closure of the Louvre Museum as members of the French CGT union protest outside the entrance as museum workers voted to go on strike against increasingly deteriorating working conditions and the declining visitor experience at the world famous museum, in Paris on December 15, 2025. The Louvre Museum remained closed on December 15, 2025 due to an indefinite strike by its staff, voted on unanimously, a further blow for an institution reeling from the October 19th burglary and the exposure of its shortcomings.

The Louvre Museum was closed on Monday morning due to strike action, security agents said, nearly two months after French crown jewels were stolen from the Paris landmark.

“We are closed,” a security agent told visitors on Monday morning, according to an AFP journalist. “Come back in a few hours.”
