Baghdad – Iraqi News Agency (INA)

Baghdad Mayor Ammar Musa Kazem confirmed that the capital is undergoing an unprecedented wave of reconstruction and development, supported directly by the government. He noted that current efforts focus on improving infrastructure, expanding green spaces, and providing facilities for investors to revive Baghdad’s historic core while boosting housing, tourism, and entertainment sectors.

Speaking at a panel discussion during the Iraq Investment Forum, attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Kazem said: “Baghdad, under the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, is witnessing visible progress that is recognized both by residents of the capital and visiting delegations from Arab and foreign countries.” He explained that Baghdad Municipality has adopted systematic plans covering infrastructure, transport solutions, and the expansion of green areas.

He added that one of the key pillars of this development is investment projects, facilitated by Baghdad Municipality as the sectoral authority responsible for issuing planning approvals for all investment activities in the capital. These projects, he said, include housing, tourism, and entertainment, with their impact already starting to appear on the ground.

Kazem also highlighted the launch of the “Baghdad is More Beautiful 1” and “Baghdad is More Beautiful 2” campaigns, in addition to investment projects and regional development programs, as well as operating budget initiatives. He stressed that reviving Baghdad’s historical sites has been a top priority, with areas such as Al-Rashid Street and Al-Saray witnessing a return of life after years of neglect, now attracting Arab and international visitors.

He concluded by emphasizing that “all these efforts are part of a clear and integrated government vision, the results of which are already visible, presenting Baghdad in a modern and civilized image worthy of its history and status.”
