Zelensky says no signs Russia wants 'to end the war'

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky reacts as he arrives to meet France's President, for a meeting at The Elysee Presidential Palace in Paris on September 3, 2025. A so-called Coalition of the Willing, counting some 30 countries, intends to provide support to Ukraine's military and possibly deploy some of its own soldiers to Ukraine when and if a ceasefire is agreed. The deployment would aim to deter future Russian aggression. (Photo by Ludovic MARIN / AFP)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday he was yet to see signs that Russia wanted to end the war it unleashed more than three years ago, as he arrived in Paris a day ahead of a security meeting with European officials.

“Unfortunately, we have not yet seen any signs from Russia that they want to end the war,” he told reporters at French presidential palace, adding that he was confident Kyiv’s allies would help “increase pressure on Russia to move towards a diplomatic solution”.
