U.S. President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun held talks at the White House focusing on strengthening support for Lebanon, enhancing regional stability and addressing developments in southern Lebanon. The meeting also highlighted U.S. assistance, Israel’s military redeployment and ongoing efforts to advance peace in the region.

Trump Pledges Continued Support for Lebanon

President Donald Trump described relations between the United States and Lebanon as positive, praising President Joseph Aoun and describing their discussions as productive.

Trump pledged significant U.S. assistance to Lebanon and said progress had already been made on several issues affecting the country. He also noted that Israeli forces were in the process of withdrawing from southern Lebanon and entering a redeployment phase.

Aoun Reaffirms Commitment to Lasting Peace

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that Lebanon’s ultimate objective is to permanently end hostilities with Israel and ensure long-term peace and stability for both Lebanon and the wider region.

He thanked President Trump for supporting efforts that led to the framework agreement with Israel, expressing confidence that Lebanon’s return to security and stability is now within reach.

Lebanese Army Expands Deployment in the South

Coinciding with the leaders’ meeting, Lebanese military units deployed to the town of Zawtar Al-Gharbiya in the Nabatieh Governorate following the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

The deployment was carried out in coordination with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), reflecting continued implementation of security arrangements in southern Lebanon.

Talks Focus on Stability and Future Cooperation

The White House meeting underscored Washington’s commitment to supporting Lebanon during a critical period while reinforcing cooperation aimed at strengthening state institutions, promoting regional stability and advancing diplomatic efforts toward lasting peace.

Conclusion:

The meeting between President Donald Trump and President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed U.S. support for Lebanon amid ongoing security developments in the south. Both leaders emphasized the importance of stability, continued cooperation and diplomatic efforts to secure lasting peace for Lebanon and the region.
