Toll rises to 60 dead in RSF attack on Sudan's El-Fasher

People lift national flags during a rally called for by Sudan's Popular Front for Liberation and Justice in Port Sudan on April 24, 2025, to denounce the siege imposed by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El-Fasher city and express support for its residents. Since April 2023, the war between the army and the RSF has killed tens of thousands, uprooted 13 million and created what the UN describes as the world's worst humanitarian crisis. At least 60 people were killed Saturday in a paramilitary drone attack on a displacement camp in the city of El-Fashar in western Sudan, activists said, doubling their earlier toll.

The resistance committees for El-Fasher said the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces carried out two drone strikes and fired eight artillery shells at the Dar al-Arqam camp, located within a university.

They had earlier reported a toll of 30 dead but said bodies remained trapped in underground shelters.
