Ukrainian strikes killed two people and wounded one in Russia’s Belgorod region, the local governor said.

“Two civilians were killed in the village of Yasnye Zori when a drone dropped explosives on an agricultural enterprise. The man and woman died instantly from their wounds,” Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on social media.

“A man with a mine blast injury and shrapnel wound to his leg is undergoing surgery,” he added.

The strikes come days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with his US counterpart Donald Trump in hopes of securing American long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles capable of striking deeper into Russia.

But Zelensky left empty-handed, after Trump told him to make a deal with Russia instead.

Moscow has stepped up attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure in recent weeks, leaving thousands without heating and light as the cold winter draws nearer.

In return, Ukraine intensified its strikes on Russian western border regions, as well as its oil and gas facilities.
