Turkey must push through legal reforms to allow PKK militants to return home without fear of being jailed or killed, a top commander told AFP after the Kurdish militant group began disarming Friday.
“If Turkey takes concrete steps, enacts laws and implements radical legal reforms.. we will go to Turkey and engage in politics. If there is no legal constitutional arrangements, we will either end up in prison or being killed,” Bese Hozat, one of the PKK’s two top leaders, told AFP in an interview.
