Baghdad – reported from the Iraqi News Agency
The Ministry of Health announced on Monday the launch of a nationwide campaign to vaccinate citizens against seasonal influenza. The campaign is being carried out across all primary healthcare centers and several hospitals in Baghdad and other provinces.
According to a statement from the ministry reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the campaign was initiated under the directives of Minister of Health Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, with the aim of protecting citizens from respiratory diseases and reducing infection rates and complications caused by the influenza virus.
The statement added that health departments across the provinces have already begun implementing the vaccination program through primary healthcare centers and government hospitals. The vaccine is available free of charge to all citizens, particularly those most at risk of infection.
The ministry emphasized the importance of receiving the vaccine, noting that it helps reduce the likelihood of infection, symptom severity, and serious complications. It confirmed that the vaccine is safe and approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). Citizens are urged to visit the nearest health center to get vaccinated and to continue following general preventive measures.
