The Meteorological and Seismological Authority announced on Saturday that a 3.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded northwest of Sinjar City in Nineveh Governorate.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the authority said that “our seismic stations detected an earthquake early this morning within the Iraqi borders, about 28 kilometers northwest of Sinjar City,” noting that “the tremor measured 3.2 in magnitude.”
The statement added that “residents near the affected area felt the tremor to varying degrees,” while urging citizens to avoid false news and rumors and to follow the official seismic safety guidelines issued by the authority.
