A proposal by Sudan’s international mediators outlines a three-month ceasefire across the country, a senior official from Saudi Arabia told AFP on Thursday.

The United States, Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia proposed a “three-month humanitarian truce in all Sudan,” the official said.

During this potential ceasefire, efforts will be made to bring together Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and it regular army for talks in Jeddah on a permanent peace deal, he said.

Sudan’s army-aligned government indicated earlier this week that it would press on with the war following an internal meeting on a US ceasefire proposal.
