Israel’s foreign minister called on the world on Friday to prevent arch foe Iran from ever acquiring nuclear weapons, after the UN Security Council voted to reimpose sanctions against Tehran.
“A nuclear-armed Iran would mean that the most dangerous regime possesses the most dangerous weapon, dramatically undermining global stability and security. The international community’s goal must remain unchanged: to prevent Iran from ever acquiring nuclear capabilities,” Gideon Saar posted on X.
The UN Security Council voted to reimpose sanctions against Iran at the request of Britain, France and Germany after they accused it of violating the terms of the landmark 2015 deal that suspended them in return for restrictions on its nuclear activities.
