The Iraqi Supreme Council for Women on Saturday expressed confidence that the Iraqi judiciary will ensure full transparency and justice in addressing the case of Dr. Ban Ziyad Tareq, whose death under unclear circumstances has sparked widespread grief and demands for the truth to be revealed to the public.

In a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Council said it is following the incident with deep sorrow, reaffirming its commitment to defending women’s rights and dignity at all levels. It also urged that the case remain free from any attempts at political exploitation.

Dr. Ban Ziyad Tareq, a young Iraqi physician in her thirties, graduated from the University of Basra’s College of Medicine and specialized in psychiatry and neurology. She was found dead in her home on August 4, 2025, under mysterious circumstances. Relevant authorities are continuing investigations into the causes of her death amid growing calls for transparency and disclosure of the full details.
